Tutorials are excellent at teaching you about a piece of the overall development puzzle but sometimes you want to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. That way you can see where those puzzle pieces you have been collecting fit into place. This video is going to be that bigger picture overview. We are going to build a small demo of an MVC application and its accompanying database. We will set up a form to collect data, capture that data, and put it into our database. We will then get that data back out of our database and display it on another form. The goal is to show the data access process from beginning to end in ASP.NET MVC. This won't be a full application and we won't complete the full process, since we won't be putting this in source control, we won't be deploying this application, and we won't be setting up authentication.
Muslim Shexany : its awesome
thanks a lot
Travis Brown : When i submit data on the form I end up getting this error "System.InvalidOperationException: 'ExecuteNonQuery requires an open and available Connection. The connection's current state is closed.'" any idea how to solve it?
Kennington : Would love to see more ASP.NET. Your doing such a great job. It's much clearer and better than courses in University.
BossOss : Found this video immensely useful in 2020. Great Job, take my sub and gratitude!
STRAT PROF BIGGEST FAN : AWESOME FRIGGIN TUTORIALS DUDE . . . YOU EXPLAIN IT SO CLEARLY AND WITH EASY EXAMPLES INSTEAD OF GOING OVER OUR HEADS . . . ALIAKSEI HANCHAR : Thank you!!!
Boyan Petrov : Please help. Can't find anything online :(
Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Invalid object name 'dbo.Employee'.

Edit: Fixed it - I named my Database differently than in the video
James : Well, I followed your guide line for line, word for word & I got an error when Posting data to the DB: "System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: 'Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'Id', table 'MVCDemoDB.dbo.Employee'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails." Please help!
Akhil Bomma : Error: CS005 - Inconsistent accessibility: return type 'List' is less accessible than method 'EmployeeProcessor.LoadEmployees()'
Hi Tim I am getting the above error, I am not able to figure it out since my DataAccess class is public and the LoadData method is also public but it says that return type is less accessible.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Mohamed Alazab : Hi! That was amazing, thank you so much I've learned a lot! However I have one question, what would you recommend me to do if I wanted to add a place where someone can upload a file or download one? Like a picture for example or a file that's maximum 150MB. Would adding another column to the database table that has the path of the file on the server that's hosting the website be a good idea?
